Ekushey February is celebrated every year with due dignity. Many of us only see February as normal. But we know the history behind it. The martyrs had to pay a heavy price to establish ekushey February. Today’s post will tell you about the history of February.

Ekushey February is a glorious day for all the Bengali language people of the world including Bangladesh. We can speak Bengali language only for the martyrs, in exchange for their blood, I can speak in Bengali.

On this day in 1952 (Phagun 1358 Thursday), many young people were martyred in police firing on students who were agitating for the development of Bengali as one of the state languages of East Pakistan. Among them are Rafiq Jabbar, Salam, Barkat and many others. And then it is known as the mother tongue or with The Ekushey February.

Bengali language is used in different parts of the world. Even after hearing this, the heart is filled with joy, today I can speak in this Bengali only for the martyrs, i pay homage to those who have been martyred for the victory of the Bengali language.

Many believe that the language movement was an event in 1952. This is not true, the language movement to protect the rights of the mother tongue was started on March 11, 1948. And Jinnah Sahib came to Dhaka on March 19, 1948. The eruption continued until March 15.

The people’s movement demanding that Bengali be made the state language became unstoppable. Khwaja Nazimuddin, the then Chief Minister of East Pakistan, became very frightened.

This is because if Quaid-e-Azam Jinnah comes and sees this turbulent situation in Dhaka. Then his political future could be severely shattered. On March 15, he accepted all the demands of the language soldiers and signed an agreement with the Rashtriya Bhasha Sangram Parishad.

Abul Kashem, Kamruddin Ahmad, Mohammad Towaha, Syed Nazrul Islam, Abdur Rahman Chowdhury pramukh participated on behalf of the Struggle Council. Under discussion, the two sides signed mous on eight issues. Jinnah’s arrival in Dhaka on March 19 was the main reason for the government’s lax behaviour in the face of the students’ movement.

Nazimuddin agreed to the deal to normalize and calm the situation before his arrival. But the demand for the status of state language to Bengali has not been accepted till then. The agreement included the release of prisoners arrested during the movement, an impartial investigation into the atrocities committed by the police, the status of bengali as a medium of instruction and a state language, the lifting of the ban on newspapers, etc.

The Bengali nation is known all over the world for its language movement. It is very rare to die for the language. In order to protect the Bengali language, on February 21, 1952, Bengali Bhabruari was recognized as Martyrs’ Day or international mother tongue. That’s why I can speak in Bengali.
